♪♫Oh, the Weather Outside is Frightful...♫♪

Jenni's soon-to-be former residence in winter
Nearly every time I tell someone I'm moving to upstate New York, I get the a confused and questioning look followed by "You know they have weather there, right?"

Yes. I know they have weather. I've even been back there for some of it (if you don't believe me, look at my ice sculpture photos). Honestly, I could use being a little miserable where weather is concerned. 72 and sunny can get quite boring after 20 years. So, after a little research, this is what I could dig-up about how big the change will be on the weather "front."

Ithaca gets hot and humid in the summer and downright frigid in the winter.  There will be snow, and lots of it. It rains all year round, rather than three times during and El Niño year. None of this is exactly surprising.

After a week of such perfect weather in SB, I can definitely say that knowing I'm moving has made me pause a little bit more, breath in the breeze, and soak up the sunny day.

  1. Gotta say, I thought weather wouldn't be a big deal either, however, I got smashed with SAD and had a truly miserable winter in Seattle. It may not seem like a big deal, but be sure to grab some full-spectrum lights and to hang out in a toasty campus greenhouse when you can during the winter. Hopefully it'll make a difference, because believe me when I say I'm committed to my fiancee, but I can't handle another winter here.

    Good luck. :O
